I wanted to find a way to bring back the emotional connection younger generations once had with food. From The Kitchen Nextdoor emerged from my research into the decline of both cooking and reading among today’s urban young adults, alongside an exploration of how cookbooks can be reimagined to better engage them. The cookzine serves as an emotional archive—filled with grounded, relatable stories that don’t just explain how to cook, but explore why we cook, shaped by our feelings, struggles, and everyday lives.
